In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), emotions are regarded as manifestations of the physiological functions in several organs, which include the heart, liver, spleen, kidneys, and lungs. Separately, jing (essence) and qi (vital energy) are the basis of all emotional activities. TCM divides emotions into seven unique categories: anger, anxiety, fear, grief, terror, overthinking and extreme elation. Each of these emotions is capable of damaging the organs if they are not addressed appropriately.
